Financial Assistance for Distance Learning
There are various financial assistance options for those who wish to
obtain a certificate or degree through distance learning.
Federal Financial Aid
If the cost of an education is holding you back from reaching your goals,
find out whether you are eligible for federal financial aid. Financial
aid can come in the form of a grant, bursary, work-study program or student
loan.
If you would like to get additional information on the financial aid
programs available check out the U.S. Department of Education's web
site. There is also a toll free number you can call for information
at 800-4-FEDAID.
Eligibility
for Financial Aid
- Possess a high school diploma, GED or pass a test approved by the
Department of Education
- Enrolled in a degree or certificate program
- Possess U.S. citizenship or be an eligible non-citizen

Distance Education Demonstration Program
Online education is seeing a surge of students who want to enjoy the freedom
and flexibility that distance learning offers. Recognizing this, congress
established the Distance Education Demonstration Program under the Department
of Education. In order to enjoy the benefits of this program you must
find out whether or not the distance learning facility you would like
to apply to qualifies for financial aid.
Federal Aid Programs
If the online college you want to be a part of is eligible for federal
aid you should then check which programs are available for funding. You
may also want to check out any financial aid programs for distance learning
offered by your state. For example, in Canda, you can use the Human
Resources Development Canada which offers financial assistance
programs.
